Tarak Ben Ammar, the media mogul who produced over 60 films in the past thirty years recently purchased an Egyptian TV network in a deal worth tens of millions of euros. Ben Amar stated that this is the first step in the creation of a pan-Arab media group.
Ben Ammar, who owns the North African broadcast network Nessma TV, said that his Italian-based holding company Prima TV has agreed to purchase the ONTV network from Egyptian businessman Naguib Sawiris.
“Today I signed the acquisition of a news network in Egypt from my friend Sawiris,” Ben Ammar told a news conference in Milan. “I’m trying to build the first independent pan-Arab television group with a foothold in Europe.”
